The last of the big bomb TV’s?

I have a six year old Sony 32″ Trinitron Flat Screen TV.This is one of the last super big and heavy TV’s made before the thin screen arrived. It has worked flawlessly over the years,no problems whatsoever. It has an HDTV plug in the back, but I never used it at all.One familiar thing it does since new is when you start it…it makes a big whuumh!! noise when you turn it on,like a sudden electrical surge. That’s normal. My question is:
This thing is on 10 to 12 hrs.a day, every day and how much longer will it perform before it eventually dies?

What do I need to get ATSC hooked up to my TV and record shows? Will a converter of some sort with an ATSC tuner hook up and allow me to record shows off of it? What is my best option to not have to keep satellite or cable and not have to get a new TV with a tuner?

I know friends who have a program to watch TV on their computer and they can hook up their cable cord to get cable channels. What’s a program that I can use to watch TV?
Thank you Kyle, but I’m not interested in just any TV show. I want to be able to channel surf on my computer like it’s a TV.

Thank you all.
Also…what am I looking for when looking at the back of foods. I want 0 cholesterol? 0 carbs? Or whats the min/max on stuff.
